Jake Doberenz

Storytelling for transformation

“I tell stories that help us rethink the way we relate to the wider world – oh, and that make us laugh!”

-Jake Doberenz

About Jake

Jake Doberenz isn’t one thing. He identifies as a polymath, a Renaissance man, a multipotentialite. One interest or specialty can’t contain him.

The list of “hats” he wears is never-ending: writer, teacher, minister, speaker, traveler, coach, podcaster, etc.

With his bachelors in Biblical Studies and Masters of Theological Study plus background in ministry, he composes Christian non-fiction books and his weekly newsletter Faithful & Funny. But with experience as a middle school teacher, he’s equally comfortable  (under the name J.A. Doberenz) writing humorous adventure novels for kids and young adults.

I'd Love to Speak to Your Audience

I am available as a guest on podcasts, to preach at your church, or to speak at your workshop. Let’s chat about what value I can bring your audience and organization.

Let’s learn from stories, together

I love keeping in contact with my readers and fellow learners through my weekly newsletters. You have to choose from.

Faithful & Funny

In this weekly newsletter for Christians, I share a funny story from my life and draw from it a spiritual point about a believer’s relationship to culture and their identity. I also discuss updates with my non-fiction work, and sometimes fiction.

Kids These Days

In this monthly newsletter for general audiences, I share a true story about a kid, past or present, who’s made a really big impact in the world. I also include any updates on my novels for kids or the work of other kid fic authors I love.
