Steve Stroble is a prolific author writing in many spaces. He mostly has Kindle ebooks (many which are currently free as of the writing of this post). This will be second-to-last of the Interviews with Christian authors for a while. I really like the quote Steve uses as his advice for writers!

(Real quick. I want to tell you that I receive a small compensation if you buy anything through the Amazon links provided. Thanks for supporting me and the author!)

When and how did you get into writing?

I started writing during college in the early 1970s when I worked for the campus newspaper. In 1976, I wrote a nonfiction book, and then three more nonfiction books by 1980 but was unable to find a publisher. In 2006, I wrote my first book published through Authorhouse, which provided the cover, ISBN, and formatting. In 2011 I was able to self-publish my first book on Amazon.

What books have you written?

Out of the Wilderness, The Human Factor, Fool’s Gold, The Wolf Is Crying to Be Heard, The Prince of Alexandria, Day of the Bomb, You Will Be Like God, Short Stories Books 1 Through 3, and the Americana Series: Bakersfield, ME, 1838, and 1966.

What inspired you to write these books?

I was inspired by the hundreds of books, hundreds of movies, thousands of TV shows I have read and seen. As well, my high school English teachers influenced me.

How has your faith influenced the stories you tell?

I try to write for the glory of God.

When did you decide you wanted to publish a book–and how did you go about doing that?

I was getting ready to submit my third book to Authorhouse when a friend from high school days told me about Amazon. I stumbled my way through the steps of putting it on Amazon KDP as an e-book and CreateSpace as a print book.

What’s one piece of advice you wish every Christian author knew?

"On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft" By Stephen King

My advice is summed up nicely from this quote in Stephen King’s book On Writing:

Writing isn’t about making money, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends. In the end, it’s about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life, as well. It’s about getting up, getting well, and getting over. Getting happy, okay? Getting happy.

What’s next for you? Any books in the works?

Currently rewriting a short story collection. I also have several novellas that need to be rewritten and another novella and nonfiction book in the planning stages.
