Today I have the pleasure to interview Cheryl Olson, a self-published author with a passion for telling stories about truths we sometimes miss and for helping people in the real world. Let’s jump right into what she says.

(Real quick. I do want to tell you that I receive a small compensation if you buy anything through the Amazon links provided. Thanks for supporting me and the author!)

When did you get into writing and what books have you written?

Since I was in high school I began writing stories about girls my age. I’ve started a five-book series I called “The Kingdom Living Series”, including The Father’s Cabin and Sara: A Princess in the Making: The Journey Begins Part One. Books 3-5 are still in the works.

What inspired you to write these books?

The first book “The Father’s Cabin” was based on a dream I had of my daughter and her struggle in her walk with Christ.

The second which is a prequel is based on one of the characters in the first book, Sara who is sold into human trafficking. This subject of selling children breaks my heart and I’ve seen too many heads in the sand over what really takes place.

How has your faith influenced the stories you tell?

As a writer, I constantly I’m learning more about things that the church doesn’t like to discuss. But we can no longer hide our heads in the sand. God’s word is alive and breathing in us and there are many mysteries that God wants us to seek out. I try to write those in my books, like the Courts of Heaven, traveling in the Spirit and other things that happened in the book of Acts.

When did you decide you wanted to publish a book–and how did you go about doing that?

I studied self-publishing and liked that route. I learned by my second book more about the process. Having a team with an editor, graphic artist, and formatters for both Kindle and print books is a great resource.

What’s one piece of advice you wish every Christian author knew?

Edit and get an editor. There are various versions of editors but a copy editor is the best for a new author.

What’s next for you? Any books in the works?

I am currently working on three books: Book 3 of the Kingdom Living Series, a fictional book about WWII women, and a mystery of epic proportions.
